A warm welcome to Pine.
Our aim is to ensure that the children are motivated, enthused and eager learners, through a mixture of targeted adult-led tasks and child-initiated activities within our learning areas.
We look forward to working in partnership with you and your children throughout the school year.
Our topic this half term is Towers, tunnels and turrets.
Climbing the battlements or tunnelling in the ground, there is a whole world of adventure and fun to be found! This term, we will visit a real castle (Skipton Castle) to explore the towers, battlements and maybe a secret tunnel or two! We will learn all about the different parts of a castle and describe how they have changed over time. Using a wide range of materials, we will build models of castles and test the strength of the structures. We will also create coats of arms and design and make a knight’s shield.
In our phonics sessions we practise reading both real words and pseudo words (nonsense words). Please click the links below for lists of nonsense words which use the phonic sounds we will be practising in school this year.
