‘Getting it right for our children in an environment to thrive.’

Welcome to 'The Nest'

When our children need a little extra support, we offer them a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Woodbank Primary School we are passionate about promoting inclusion for children with Special Educational Needs. In addition to our mainstream classes we have a 12 place SEND unit Provision which we have named ‘The Nest’. The unit is for children in Reception to Year 6 who have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) with the primary need of 'Communication and Interaction', requiring additional specialised support that is not typically available in mainstream classrooms. Children who access the SEND unit are on roll in a mainstream school but will access a personalised curriculum, specialist teaching and enhanced environment that tailored to their needs. They are valued members of the whole Woodbank community and will access activities, events and experiences where possible.

Factilities available in 'The Nest' included: a sensory room and a quiet room, dimmable lights for sensory needs, intervention room, a sensory rich environment with a range of accessible regulation available  - trampoline, spinners, weighted blankets, body socks; enclosed outdoor area; fobbed entry and exit; nappy changing facilities; visual and signalong support in communication.
