Pupils Profit
Eco Shop
Our Eco club has been successful in securing a place on a pilot scheme called Pupils Profit. Backed by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, we received an initial grant of £200 to help support the purchase of our initial stock and training.
Pupils Profit is a fantastic scheme which promotes using less plastic by recycling empty containers and using them to refill with products such as body wash, washing up liquid and hand wash . As the children are integral to the business, their enthusiasm helps encourage the adults to want to purchase items, helping to reduce plastic waste.
As we go through the programme, the children complete modules. The work we are doing educates the children on teamwork, communication, problem solving, creativity, aiming high, leadership and teamwork to name a few. It provides a sequenced programme that builds on their prior learning and helps them develop skills for their future.
Module 1
Business Operations. What to call the business, where it will be located, when it should open and how to keep it safe.
Our Business will be called Woody's Eco Express!
Module 2
Products, Pricing and Profit. Becoming familiar with the products, look at the order form, create selling prices and calculate profit per product.
Module 3
Marketing. Creating posters, logo and write a letter to parents about the opening of the business.
Our new logo which was developed using all the children's contributions and fantastic ideas...
Module 4
Market Research. This is a way of checking there is a need for the business and gaining public opinion. We sent out a questionnaire on Parenthub which gained 25 responses and the children spoke to teachers and staff to gain their opinions.
